Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Product Compliance Technician to be located at our Corporate Headquarters in Lancaster, PA. This position will be responsible in supporting the organization’s Product Compliance & Sustainability programs as well as more general Innovation projects.  Currently, the allocation will be approximately 50/50 between the roles; however, business conditions will ultimately dictate the precise workload allocation.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Product Compliance Technician:

  • Populating Toxnot database with product raw materials and chemical breakdowns using working knowledge of Armstrong GSM and SDS management system
  • Conducting annual audit of all SUSTAIN products to ensure compliance with certifications
  • Working with various raw material vendors for all businesses (Core, AS, WAVE, etc.) to obtain material ingredient information needed for GREEN GENIE while conducting annual audits of all GREEN GENIE information to ensure validity
  • Compiling plant operations data quarterly for Armstrong Sustainability reporting
  • Working with corporate EHS to ensure compliance with Technology SDS requirements
  • Providing support to R&D teams for both sourced and internal new product development projects
  • Creating samples, run tests (bench, pilot, or plant) and collect data in a safe and accurate manner using sound technical and data analysis principles
  • Conducting and/or supports manufacturing process qualification trials at vendor locations
  • Recommending process changes necessary to optimize product results (cost, performance, or manufacturing effectiveness)
  • Participating in LEAN events to improve the overall effectiveness of assigned activities

 

Required Qualifications for the Product Compliance Technician:

  • High School Diploma or 2+ years applicable experience
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment preferably in papermaking, coatings technology, woodworking or architectural structures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel 

 

Desired Qualifications for the Product Compliance Technician:

  • Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Mechanics, Engineering or related technical field
  • Experience in Sustainability Program Initiatives
