BUSINESS CONTRIBUTION:

The Successful Candidate will troubleshoot, diagnose and repair all types of machinery and support equipment in the manufacturing locations of the Portland Metro facilities.  Responsibilities include fabrication, assembly, and qualification of machine parts and new and test equipment.  The successful candidate will manufacture repair parts, monitor indicators, and perform preventative maintenance to prevent the breakdown of critical equipment.  Provide leadership, project management and training related to physical asset care in manufacturing.  Coordinate, prioritize, and schedule maintenance activities.  Evaluate, provide advice and oversee repair part inventories. Analyze, diagnose or troubleshoot machine failures; repair or refurbish all types of physical assets and support equipment functionality.  Participate in asset build projects.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair machinery and support equipment.
  • Machine and manufacture equipment parts as needed to repair, rebuild, or build new equipment
  • Meet customer requirements to continuously improve product quality, cost, delivery, and safety, while increasing efficiency, and reduce production down time
  • Provide technical support for engineering, new operators, apprentices, and other team members
  • Organize, plan, and maintain adequate levels of purchased and manufactured parts
  • Use computer based software for record keeping
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well organized workspace

 

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • 30 credit hours of Machine Technology courses with a 3.0 or greater GPA or equivalent experience.
  • Competent with electric and gas welding, brazing, and soldering of a variety of raw materials including but not limited to steel, stainless steel, aluminum and plastic.

     

    Course study requirements

  • Computer Keyboarding, Intro to internet, Intro to windows, gauge studies through long term, math basics, machine reliability study and demonstration, control chart knowledge, EZ charting, blueprint reading, GDT, hazardous material training, Practical metallurgy, Principles of fluid power maintenance, Shop math, data collection and demonstration, problem solving methodology, product knowledge, quality systems, team work training, 5S methodologies, principles of TQC or managing with TQC.  Interpersonal relationship training.
  • Knowledge and applied experience of reliability centered maintenance technology.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of four years of experience in a high speed, high volume manufacturing environment
  • Two years of experience performing light maintenance
  • Previous experience with lathes, mills, grinders, welding, and other machinist tools is preferred
  • Demonstrated effective communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Must take initiative, seek and act on opportunities to improve the organization’s performance
  • Proven ability and willingness to learn; seek out development activities to improve skills and increase knowledge; learn from other team members
  • Basic math skills are required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and; data management skills preferred

 

AVAILABILITY:

  • Available to work on site as required by job; International travel may be required to meet divisional requirements
