Your day as an Associate Accountant
The Associate Accountant position will involve rotations across Financial Stewardship and Public Reporting teams, the Treasury Finance and Services team and the Risk, Compliance and Audit team and will support FMS to meet all deliverables of the broader team.
The role will provide support in the delivery of the Total State Sector Accounts and key reporting aggregates included in NSW Budget, Half Year Review and Monthly Reporting. The role will also support the Treasury Finance team in providing excellent internal Treasury customer service, maintaining accurate processing of transactional finance services including reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, in accordance with relevant policies, procedures manual and legislation.
This role will also assist in the delivery of ad hoc projects in the Accounting Policy and Advice and Financial Management, Legislation, Policy and Advice teams and assist in preparing work papers for the Treasury Audit and Risk Committee.
Proactively building robust relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders is paramount, as is your contribution to improving the delivery of outcomes across the NSW Government through effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy with Treasury teams and agency counterparts.

Qualifications
- Completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Business or Law) or be due to complete it by February 2026
- Completed or be near to completing the entry requirements for CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, or the Institute of Public Accountants program
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency of Australia
To be eligible to apply for ongoing employment at NSW Treasury, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo background checks and provide confirmation of tertiary academic qualifications before commencement.
