Job Title: Electronics Engineer

Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Work Schedule: Hybrid – Melbourne, AU

Summary of Job:

The Electronics Engineer is responsible for developing electronic subsystems for demanding motion control technologies. This role involves designing and troubleshooting new products, focusing on performance and quality in a highly regulated domain. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to meet project goals and deliver top-tier motion control solutions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design and analyze circuit card assemblies with control and power electronics as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop and debug FPGA and embedded microcontroller modules
  • Participate in commissioning and testing of products
  • Develop test plans and support testing for developmental and production products
  • Create technical documents including reports, drawings, instructions, and manuals
  • Support sales activities such as liaising with customers, preparing tender documents, and supporting training and events

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, or similar
  • Preferred: Master's in Electronics, Mechatronics, or similar

Work Experience:

  • Required: 3+ years in relevant product development
  • Desired: 5+ years, experience with firmware, FPGAs, microcontrollers, defence and manufacturing, EMI/EMC testing (MIL-STD-461 & MIL-STD-810), sneak circuit analysis, communications protocols (SPI, RS422, RS485, CANbus, Ethernet), and modelling (MATLAB/Simulink/Python)

Skills:

  • Design, simulation, lab testing, and debugging of PCBAs
  • Knowledge of motion control and control theory
  • Electronics related to brushless DC motors
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Technical writing skills
  • Desired: VHDL, ModelSim, strong interpersonal and communication skills

Suitability:

  • Hybrid work with minimum three days onsite per week
  • International travel capability

Eligibility:

  • Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance
  • Satisfy police checks and employment screening
  • Access to US ITAR-controlled information, considering nationality restrictions
