Overview
As the Project Engineer, the individual will utilise their underlying knowledge about professional practices and project management while being involved in planning, monitoring and controlling across each of the following management areas: Scope, Budget and Time. The Project Engineer will provide project and design support to the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager and the team to ensure that the specified project requirements are implemented to specification, time, quality and within budget to a successful handover to the end user. The Project Engineer will also assist in the development of project plans and contribute to project monitoring and control activities.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the assigned Project Manager or Senior Project Manager: develop the technical design and qualification/ commissioning documentation of the overall project.
- Produce specifications, drawings and other documentation that comprises the technical requirements for inclusion in tenders and contracts as part of a cross functional group.
- Undertake the commissioning and qualification activities of the project.
- Report any deviations identified during commissioning and qualification back to Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager.
- Prepare and seek approval of Capital Expenditure Proposals, as instructed.
- Raise and administer purchase orders for supply of goods and services.
- Assist as directed in the preparation of key project management documents.
- Provide assistance as directed in maintaining the configuration management system during project activities.
- Assist in or manage as directed construction activities.
- Develop and maintain collaborative external relationships with external consultants and contractors to aid in the delivery of projects design and construction activities.
Role Details
- Role overview includes coordination of the Bio21 office move into the CSL Melbourne site, general coordination tasks to support the move of equipment and people, coordinating equipment vendors to pack up and relocate equipment, vendor supervision and management, and planning for moving approximately 400 pieces of equipment including recalibration.
- Location: CSL Melbourne and Bio21 sites (10 minute walk between sites).
- Team size: 3 people in team.
- Work arrangement: 5 days onsite; some weeks may require flexibility for Saturday work and early starts.
- Hours: Mon to Fri; usual start time 8:30am; overtime penalties apply if hours exceed 38 per week.
Qualifications
- Education: Tertiary qualifications in engineering, or science.
- Technical Expertise: Fundamental understanding of technical development concepts, tools and technologies; fundamental level of technical knowledge in one Engineering discipline and ability to solve problems in design, testing and deployment; experience in troubleshooting, process engineering and ability to understand and implement client requirements.
- Experience: Project Management experience; process and engineering systems/services experience in the GxP industry.
- Knowledge & Attributes: Understanding of project management principles; knowledge of quality management systems and procedures; risk management methodology and processes; contract management and administration; problem-solving methodologies; excellent communication skills; intermediate skills in MS-Project, MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Visio and MS-Outlook; knowledge and application of GxP principles.
- Must haves: 3 years experience in a similar role; ability to comprehend instructions and run with requirements; initiative and quick-learning; GMP knowledge; planning and vendor management experience; ability to provide direction and follow up to ensure tasks are completed on schedule; validation and qualification experience required.
Role requires willingness to travel / work between CSL Melbourne and Bio21 sites.
