Welcome to Rheinmetall Defence Australia’s Software Engineer Virtual Experience.

As a Software Engineer you will be tasked with solving a wide range of problems in order to meet the requirements of a client. This is done by applying the principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of computer software. The role is challenging, fast paced, and endlessly rewarding.

What you’ll learn

In this virtual experience, you will be working on an imaginary project that follows standard defence contracting practices. You will gain experience in:

  • Analysing requirements to produce a conceptual design
  • Implementing software to meet client requirements
  • The development lifecycle of a defence contract
  • GPS data formats and interfaces

What you will do

Module 1: Requirements and Design

30 mins - 1 hour

Help develop a Sub-System Design Document based on client Requirements

Module 2: GPS Storage Service

30 minutes - 1 hour

Develop an application to convert from an NMEA interface to a GPX one

Module 3: Errors

30 minutes - 1 hour

Solve errors that arise in the field

Module 4: Overspeed

30 minutes - 1 hour

Implement a new feature for auditing

Module 5: Track Sections

30 minutes - 1 hour

Implement a new feature for displaying sections
