Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Summary /Overview

  • Receive and schedule projects, manage technicians / deliverables / inventory / work with Admin. Staff and PM’s on updates

Key Functions and Responsibilities

  • Receive work order, plan and schedule accordingly with the customer 
  • Put together necessary paper work/Folder for field technicians. 
  • Gather combine and submit job deliverables within 48 hours of completion. This includes material allocation 
  • Ensure the field technicians have everything necessary to complete their job in the field.
  • Communicate and work with HP personnel.
  • Work one on one with HP Rims to resolve access issues, delays, surveys, and question that either HP or STRAN Site leads may have regarding a specific job. 
  • Promote a sense of urgency with his team. 
  • Need to push the team to meet STRANS Est time frames.
  • Communicate with Admin, PM and other STRAN Personnel on job delay, issues, completion and deliverables.
  • Responsible for ordering, distributing, and maintaining material that fall under their bases.
  • Responsible for vehicle Inspection reports on all vehicles that fall under their bases or personnel of responsibility.
  • Responsible for Weekly/Monthly safety meetings with the team.
  • Responsible for submitting team weekly timesheet on time.

  • Site leads are to be on the job site 100% of the time.

Knowledge and Experience

Have a thorough understanding of structured cable systems, associated termination equipment, test equipment, industry testing standards, and industry approved test procedures.

  • Understand fiber optic splicing techniques and be able to attach connectors to fiber optic cable and splice inside and outside fiber cables.
  • Be able to perform test procedures on fiber and copper cable, analyze test results, and certify results to industry standards.
  • Be technically competent to problem-solve cable systems not meeting industry standard test results and provide remediation recommendations.
  • Be able to perform as team lead and utilize project management skills to manage tasks.

  • The majority of work is light to medium and may require routinely lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The selected candidate must be able to perform the duties of a rigorous work schedule, which includes lifting, loading, and unloading, and pass a physical examination and drug screen certifying this ability

Working Conditions: 7:00 am – 3:30pm; May require to work some overtime and or weekends; Majority of work will be indoor however may require some outdoor work
