Job Description


We are hiring a Senior Tax Analyst to join the Tax Team, based at our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD. You will be responsible for preparation/review of global income tax issues and reporting, which requires applying specialized expertise to all aspects of Company's business transactions. The position is also responsible for the preparation of the income tax provision, preparation and review of the federal and state income tax return compliance, assistance with tax planning projects as needed, and process improvement related to both financial statement and income tax return reporting processes. Additionally you will assist and support strategic planning initiatives, ensure compliance with internal controls, and assist with income tax audits.


The position requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of domestic and international income tax law and U.S. generally accepted accounting principles.  The Senior Tax Analyst must have strong written and oral communication skills, good organizational skills and the desire to initiate change, act proactively with minimal supervision and respond with a sense of urgency to drive execution through the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the income tax provision, domestic and international, on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Identification of income tax issues and FIN 48 positions along with alternative resolutions
  • Preparation of valuation allowance analysis
  • Reconciliations of income tax accounts
  • Preparation and review of federal income tax returns
  • Preparation and review of state income tax returns
  • Preparation and review of Forms 5471 and 8858
  • Ensure compliance with all required filings, mandates and law changes
  • Ensure compliance with tax notices by assisting with the review of notices and maintenance of the tax notice database
  • Assistance with intercompany transfer pricing initiatives
  • Review of apportionment reports supporting state returns and planning initiatives
  • Preparation and review of responses to domestic and international tax audits
  • Assist with Sarbanes Oxley compliance, data management, and organization efforts within the Tax Dept.
  • Identification and analysis of potential income tax law changes, domestic and international
  • Provide assistance to tax leadership with tax planning projects including analysis, documentation, and conclusions
  • Support and implement process improvement initiatives within the Tax Dept.
  • Performance of all necessary research and analysis in areas of responsibility, as required
  • Preparation and review of quarterly estimated payments and extensions
  • Assist with the preparation of cash tax forecasts and current and deferred tax account projections

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and verbal/written communication skills 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional environment                
  • Experience with corporate tax software and on-line tax research products
  • Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with the preparation of cash tax forecasts and current and deferred tax account projections
  • Experience with SAP, SAP BPC,
  • Experience with ONESOURCE Income Tax and Tax Provision software

Required Experience

  • BS degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant tax experience in either public accounting or a corporate tax department

  • CPA
