    Responsibilities

    As a Aircraft Engine Mechanic, WG-8602-10, you will:
    • Remove and disassemble aircraft engines in order to perform necessary maintenance
    • Perform periodic and special inspections on engines
    • Evaluate inspection findings to determine adequacy of repairs, modification, or corrective actions
    • Conduct tests of repaired components using bench mock-ups and related test equipment
    • Perform engine trim in accordance with applicable directives
    • Evaluate engine performance and accepts or rejects engine repair

    NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED :
    This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

    AREAS OF CONSIDERATION : Anyone eligible for membership in the New Jersey National Guard

    NOTE : If the individual selected is currently on a Title 10 or Title 32 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour

    MILITARY GRADES : E-2 to E-8

    COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT(S) : 15B, 15T

    Selectee will have two (2) years to obtain the required MOS,

    PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL : A pre-placement physical will be required for anyone selected for this position. Placement into the position will not be made until results are received.

    FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS :
    • National Guard Membership is required.
    • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
    • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
    • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
    • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

    MILITARY POSITION : Any Aviation Unit in the New Jersey Army National Guard (Aviation Units Only)

    THIS IS AN INDEFINITE POSITION : This position lasts for an unknown or unstated length of time and is not Permanent but may become Permanent.

    Qualifications
    GENERAL EXPERIENCE :
    Must have the following experience(s):
    • Performing assembly and disassembly operations
    • making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements
    • Using hand and power tools common to the trade
    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE :
    Must have 18 months of the following experience(s):
    • Performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations
    • Making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories
    • Performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft
    • Determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis
