Electrical Engineer

Samsung C&T Corporation Australia is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer with experience in renewable energy projects to join our Engineering & Construction team.

About the Role

• Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products.
• Perform detailed calculations to develop manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational standards, specifications, and designs for electrical systems or components.
• Analyze electrical system requirements, capacity, cost, and project needs and then develop a system plan.
• Create and maintain product documentation, including product reports and design specifications.
• Analyze and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
• Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time.
• Enact Electrical System Concept & Design Criteria, perform electrical studies & equipment sizing calculations, establish equipment lists & electrical load lists, prepare technical specifications & equipment supplier TBE, create construction process drawings & deliverables, take-off, electrical bill of materials, etc.
• Ensure that products meet relevant safety standards and engineering codes.
• Conduct technical bid evaluation for electrical equipment.
• Examine needs for new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budgets.
• Collaborate with other members of the engineering team to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Attend, host or coordinate technical meetings.
• Define customer needs and requirements.
• Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.

About You

• B.Sc in Engineering or a recognized engineering qualification. Additional certificate in design desirable.
• 7+ years detailed design/engineering experience in substation, utility-scale PV, and BESS projects.
• Experience in Renewable PV Solar Farm and/or large-scale Battery Storage projects (minimum 100MW).
• Experience in AutoCAD or other software key to the discipline of expertise.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NER, AEMO, and NSP regulations.
• Proficiency in HV substation design.
• Experience with PV and BESS system design, integration, HV & LV AC & DC side.
• Good understanding of Substation & Renewable Energy projects Controls & Communications System.
• Ability to develop detailed electrical drawings, specifications, technical proposals & reports.
• Experience with relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, DigSilent).
• Understanding of power system analysis (load flow, short circuit, protection).
• Experience in an EPC environment managing project design scope, schedule, and budget.
• Strong ability to liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
• Experience in design review, verification, and assessment of renewable projects.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
• Experience with design consultant SoW drafting.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of Grid Connection Process.
