Job Summary:
The Electrical Commissioning Engineer will be part of the CAI Data Centre / Building Commissioning team. Responsibilities include commissioning mission-critical electrical equipment, ensuring safe electrical practices, facility turnover, and issue resolution. The role involves developing and executing commissioning tests, supporting design reviews, and consulting on LEED / Green Star qualification packages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop electrical equipment and system test scripts
- Participate actively in customer equipment FWT/FAT
- Coordinate and manage vendors
- Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with vendor submittals
- Provide documentation confirming correct installation and operation of equipment
- Review design specifications, manufacturer submittals, and project schedules
- Perform QA/QC of electrical installation and start-up
- Assign commissioning tasks to team members
- Execute test scripts to verify equipment/system operation
- Ensure safety practices are followed
- Engage with customers to ensure positive experience and schedule adherence
- Provide daily status reports
- Conduct walk-downs, turnover, and punch list reviews
- Understand LEED specifications and requirements
- Duties may expand with experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years in data center commissioning or facility engineering/management
- Experience in electrical switching, equipment inspections, low/medium voltage commissioning, factory tests, and electrical handover
- Data center operations experience is preferred
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to travel internationally; candidates must have or be able to obtain a passport
Working Conditions:
- Travel may range from 25% to 100%
- Work may occur in various regions within or outside Australia
- Work in construction site conditions
- Legal right to work in Australia required
