Knauf is a global manufacturer of insulation materials, gypsum wallboard systems, plasters and accessories, and related construction products with operations in 96 countries.
The role is based in Port Melbourne, VIC, and reports to the Plant/Site Manager as part of the Senior Management team. This is a manufacturing site role focused on leading the engineering and maintenance function at the Port Melbourne Plasterboard and Compounds plants, delivering innovative, efficient, and high-quality solutions to ensure plant operation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the engineering and maintenance function across the Port Melbourne plants.
- Deliver plant optimisation to enable efficient productivity.
- Establish planned maintenance activities to ensure effective running of the plant.
- Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery within timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Drive process optimisation, technical innovation, and implementation of advanced technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering with business objectives.
- Manage the capex budget, allocating resources to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee engineering and maintenance teams including maintenance contractors to ensure safe and productive outputs.
- Develop the maintenance/asset care strategy.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil or related field) highly beneficial.
- At least 10 years of management experience in a similar manufacturing role (building products experience advantageous but not required).
- Ability to work with a unionised workforce and foster collaborative relationships.
- Excellent experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and root cause analysis.
- Strong Project Management skills.
- Good knowledge of MS Office; SAP experience is an advantage.
- Ability to mentor, develop, and coach team members, supporting performance and growth.
- Ability to delegate, challenge, and inspire the team to deliver exceptional outcomes.
