Overall Responsibility

To inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment within specified departments. The successful candidate will be part of a mechanical /electrical team performing mainly mechanical maintenance functions with electrical trade assist on an as needed basis.

Accountabilities
  • Perform mechanical maintenance functions on all equipment required to produce quality products for operating units within the Business Unit listed.
  • Integrate information into clear reports to convey incidents or conditions.
  • Performing reactive work trouble shooting and repairing production equipment on a daily basis, preventing or reducing unplanned equipment delays.
  • Perform inspections, repairs, rebuilds in both shop and plant environment.
  • Must be able to work as a self-directed, motivated team member in a fully integrated Manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma/GED and Ontario Millwright Certificate of Qualification – 433A is required. 
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s license.
  • Must be capable of physically demanding work (inside & outside).
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to follow directions and work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced trouble shooting and problem solving skills are required.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Basic personal computer and corporate standard software skills (MS Word, Excel) are required.
Work Environment
  • Heavy industrial, requiring 100% of time per week in plant. Required to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Exposure to noise; heights, confined spaces, lighting conditions, materials, products and by-products associated with the manufacture of steel, temperature and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices or equipment. The use of respirators, fresh air breathing apparatus and standard plant safety equipment will also be required.
  • Required to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding to access elevations, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift and turn while carrying tools, material and equipment in various parts of the facilities.
Hours of Work 
  • Hours of work may involve 8-hour days schedule or continuous 12-hour shifts with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads. You must be willing to work extended hours for scheduled shutdowns, emergency / breakdown work and call in support.
