Position Summary

Dover Fueling Solutions is seeking a Factory Quality Manager for the Austin facility.  In this role you will translate concepts, support development of strategy, implement change, create programs responsive to external environment, and participate in cross-functional business and cultural development that will deliver excellence and ensure that all managers, process owners and supervisors develop and maintain their part of the quality management system and contribute in continuous improvement. This position will report to EHS & Quality Director North America and will be based from our Austin, Texas headquarters. The postion will require international travel.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in developing/defining and communicating a Manufacturing Quality vision and strategic objectives that align with the operations and business strategy
  • Align a strong quality team to this vision by establishing and driving performance expectations and providing training and guidance opportunities
  • Set priorities and key objectives to reduce the cost of poor quality, improve the compliance to (revised) regulations/standards of the site Quality Management System and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Define/implement/track relevant Quality KPIs and set targets that are aligned with DFS operations and business strategy
  • Set clear roles and responsibilities across the organization with pre-emptive management controls
  • Introduce systems to ensure adequate training level of employees;
  • Ensure effective management of the Quality Management System
  • Ensure that proper Quality gates and best practices are in place to ensure proper outgoing Quality.
  • Support local implementation and maintenance of global systems, tools and processes to manage relevant Quality processes (such as: customer complaint handling; NPI; engineering change processes; supplier performance tracking; etc.)
  • Ensure the delivery of key projects to customers and regulators
  • Maintain ISO certifications and other certifications relevant to the business, like UL, MID and ATEX.
  • Provide Quality System leadership to ensure internal policies, customer expectations and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Participate in quality system Management Reviews.
  • Control Complaint handling process; install a problem-solving process
  • Participates in NPI and Engineering change processes to enable stable production operations, minimize warranty costs and drive customer satisfaction
  • Define and implement Quality Plans for relevant product ranges (including: Supplier inspections; Incoming Goods Inspection; In-process testing and final testing);
  • Track and drive continuous improvement of supplier base (direct responsibility for local suppliers and work with Global Supply Chain Quality team for global key supplier accounts) , to enable stable production operations and lower warranty costs
  • Oversee the continuous improvement of Quality Management Systems, including assuring effective management reviews, complaint handling, change control, calibration maintenance, internal auditing, R&D transfers, validation, and manufacturing area support
  • Manage the Austin Quality team
  • All in the spirit of “Lean Manufacturing” (Kaizens; visual mgt; 5S; etc).
 

Candidate Experience and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or related discipline strongly preferred, or comparable combination of education and experience
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum 7 years of professional Quality Leadership experience, preferably 3 of these years of prior experience successfully leading at a Manager level
  • Make things happen mentality. Driver and finisher
  • Experiences that effectively use continuous improvement skills and tools to prioritize and drive projects and improvements/standardization across the network to improve Quality service levels, reduce costs, and align with strategic objectives
  • Engage with the key stakeholders to define the strategy and future requirements for the Quality Management System
  • Significant knowledge and insight into qualification and validation activities and the ability to partner effectively with engineering and operations teams in completing these tasks
  • Closely partner with the Engineering organization to drive robust design transfer and long term new product introduction success
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Organization, time management, and prioritization skills
  • ISO Certified Lead Auditor. Prior experience managing Quality Management Systems certified to ISO standards, preferably within an international environment.
  • Strong preference for candidates that have a six-sigma green belt / Black belt.

     

     

    Essential Functions

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

  • Eager to act as project lead to get field/process/supplier issues resolved
  • Influence and build strong working relationships across organizations and geographies
  • Strong ERP systems user/knowledge of Oracle (or similar) and all MS Office applications preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, including domestic and international travel
  • Ability to sit for extended  periods of time (long international flights)
  • Ability to work in excess of 8 hours per day
  • Ability to effectively/clearly communicate
