Agriculture Analytics Associate

Global Real Estate and Agricultural Investments maintain a portfolio invested in commercial real estate and agricultural mortgages, as well as real estate equities. Agricultural Investments manages a $15.3 billion portfolio (as of 12/31/2017) and sources agricultural investments through five regional field offices in the U.S. and a consulting office in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 


The Agricultural Analytics Associate will support production of agricultural mortgage portfolio analytics and reporting for MetLife’s general account and third-party investors (MIM). The Associate will provide analytical tools and reports for strategic management of the portfolios, with regular interaction with the Agricultural Portfolio Unit (APU), Agricultural Research team, Agricultural Regional Offices and senior management. 


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Serve as the primary resource for agricultural portfolio data and analysis.
  • Production of timely, accurate and actionable agricultural portfolio reporting and insights. Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual portfolio performance reports and presentations for Senior Management and clients.  
  • Preparation and/or validation of agricultural portfolio data for financial reporting.  Development and maintenance of portfolio performance projections. Maintenance of key portfolio performance benchmarks for delinquency, credit loss and mortgage spreads.
  • Calculation/reporting of agricultural portfolio general reserves, and analysis and reporting of loan specific reserves.  Analyze and report on agricultural portfolio risk based capital.
  • Support stress testing and economic capital assessments, providing performance assumptions and data.
  • Respond to prospective client due diligence inquiries related to portfolio and/or benchmark performance.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Candidate should have excellent analytical, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with all levels of management
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in fast-paced work environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel 



  • Master’s degree in finance, investments or economics and 3+ years of work experience
  • Experience with accounting and financial reporting systems and databases
