Crusher Maintenance Mechanic

 

Summary

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and preventative maintenance aspects of Operations within Western Rock Products. This will include but not limited to troubleshooting and repair of Hot Plants, Wash Plants, Portable Screens and Aggregate Crushers.  You will be responsible for independent daily scheduling and time management of all areas assigned as well as tracking and management of parts/tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand company Safety Policies and implement into daily life and be a leader in Safety including but not limited to:          
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)
    • Confined Spaces
    • Working at Heights
    • Risk Assessment
  • Diagnose Plant Down problems in minimal time and make repairs to get plant running.  Progress to get root problem solved and repaired from future downtime in off production time.
  • Create Work Orders and Prioritize according to demand and schedule man hours and parts accordingly.
  • Document system problems and preventative maintenance in site log and/or Computerized Maintenance System.
  • Make recommendations for improving the service, reliability and performance of our equipment.
  • Keep Operator and Manager apprised of progress during remedial maintenance or during a plant down situation.
  • Gather and record machine information at regular intervals to monitor performance.
  • Escalate solving technical problems by seeking timely advice or assistance from technical support when necessary.
  • Handle problems in a professional manner during difficult high-pressure situations.
  • Establish preventative maintenance schedules and perform according to company specifications.
  • Responsible for assisting with mobilization of FastPack Crusher and WRP Portable Hot Plant.
  • Any other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
     

     

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience as outlined in this job specification
  • MSHA and OSHA training a positive
  • Logical trouble shooting skills and capability to isolate problems at plant or component level.
  • Understanding of AC/DC power distribution.  
  • Ability to effectively work with electric schematics, logic diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Working knowledge in the operations of personal computers especially Microsoft Office, navigation across network sites and email communication.
  • 3-5 years of technical field experience, preferably in Asphalt Hot Plants, Aggregate Crushers and Wash Plants and Ready Mix Batch Plants as well as mobile support equipment such as loaders, trucks etc.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Computer Skills
  • None
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • DOT Medical Card required.
  • Hold a Valid Driver’s License with a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

  • Ability to work weekends and certain holidays to accommodate business needs.
  • Travel within your assigned territory is required, with occasional travel outside your assigned territory.   Overnight stays may be required.  Company Per Diem rates will apply.
  • Ability to accommodate limited accessibility at a job site, including the ability to work in confined spaces in around our equipment.
  • Company Service Truck will be provided.  Tools will be provided by employee.  Specialty tools can be negotiated.  A tool allowance is provided
