Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Operations Technician III to be part of our Jackson, Louisiana team (Transco Station 60). Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations, the primary purpose of the Operations Technician is to be responsible for handling maintenance and operations of natural gas equipment as it related to turbine engines/compressors, gas engines/compressors, electrical motors/pumps, and valves along with the maintenance and troubleshooting of all related subsystems, including start/stop, safety shutdown and combustion controls.

 

Responsibilities

  • Safety is the highest priority at Williams, and a person's commitment to safe operations is a requirement for all applicants.  The ideal candidate will actively participate in safety meetings and develop knowledge in all company safety policies and industry safety standards.
  • Work with Local management and leaders to achieve and maintain required D.O.T.   training and qualifications in accordance to Williams Operator Qualifications plan
  • Maintain and/or operate all natural gas compressor station equipment and facilities including: Engine Driven Reciprocating Natural Gas Compressors (Cooper GMW, GMWA, & 10V250 units), and Turbines (Centaur).
  • Operate and maintain ancillary equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, filters, instrumentation and controls, etc.), piping, valves, separators, storage tanks, air compressors, auxiliary generators, etc.
  • Maintain and/or operate all on-shore pipeline facilities such as: valves, piping, pigging equipment, pipeline right-of-way, meter/regulator stations, and inspection of third party activities.
  • Handle facility encroachment activities including pipe location, excavation and inspection resulting from one-call notifications and/or direct calls.
  • Operate various equipment such as:  Forklifts, Aerial / Man lift, tractor, etc.
  • Follow all company policy and procedures associated with job task and review each day prior to starting work.
  • Operational discipline is expected and must be incorporated while completing every job task.
  • Support local projects at our facilities.
  • Perform preventive pipeline maintenance and work described under the job progression system for the pipeline technician job family.
  • Interface with technical support, shared services, government agencies, local emergency planning committees, emergency responders, on-call agencies, landowners, and contractors.
  • Be willing to present education activities, which include formal presentations.
  • After hour work as needed and routine on-call rotations are mandatory with some out of area travel requirements.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess previous experience within the oil and gas, industrial, manufacturing or equivalent industry.
  • Possess intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills.
  • Have a valid State Operators Driving License and excellent driving record.
  • Be willing and able to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, and weekend shifts.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be willing to work in extremely hot and cold temperatures, loud noises and enclosed spaces.
  • Willing and able to lift and carry items weighing 45lbs or more.
  • Have the ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for long periods of time.
  • Be able to work at elevated levels from man lifts or ladders with appropriate PPE.
  • Have the ability to work in environmental extremes while operating hand and power tools, climbing ladders, and two-way radios.
  • Demonstrate the capability to be team orientated with the ability to work well with others.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.
  • Reside no more than 45min from the Station location

 

Preferred

  • Possess an Associates’ degree
  • Previous experience in an environment with gas-plant operations, gas compression, and/or liquid or gas gathering processes
  • Previous experience pneumatic controls troubleshooting and repair, and hydraulic controls
