Responsible for providing consumer product safety and reliability engineering/quality expertise and product safety consultation to all WSI brands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Product Development:

* Perform safety/reliability product review for all assigned brands, assuring complete coverage: clearly communicate and document all concerns and potential problems.
* Review Product packaging for language content /safety and regulatory issues.
* Provide disposition of testing results and communicate same to affected parties clearly and in a timely manner (under normal circumstances, within 48 hours).
* Notify merchants and vendors of upcoming significant regulatory changes or product protocol revisions.

Process Management:

* Track testing of assigned products, assuring that no negative schedule or cost impact is created by test delays attributable to QA or partner laboratories.
* Communicate with testing laboratories and suppliers to insure clarity and understanding of test requirements and insure appropriate testing is performed.
* Maintain and update WSI Technical Product specifications, as required (Product Guidelines, Test Protocol, etc.)
* Insure effective utilization of department resources (temporary employees, etc.)
* Manage subordinates in clerical and technical teams.
* Working with management, develop and maintain department SOP's and technical data bases.

Business Partnerships:

* Maintain effective work relationships by partnering with assigned brands and franchise buying groups/product managers worldwide to ensure a high quality and safe product is delivered within cost and on time.
* Act as a technical resource and safety consultant to WSI Buying Groups & franchises regarding appropriate statutory, regulatory, and WSI product safety requirements for specific types of merchandise.
* Provide education both internal and external as needed on product safety regulations and trends in regulations, and standards for the global marketplace.
* Provide vendor training on Internal Processes as well as Technical, Regulations and Standards.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering.
* Strong understanding of Electrical and lighting standards and regulations
* Product Safety and reliability experience, including international
* Strong understanding of product performance requirements
* Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel
