TRANSPORT DRIVER/BULKER

 

I.              JOB SUMMARY

 

This is a skilled position which requires transportation of all existing equipment to job locations.  Must have skills in operating equipment that will be transported, loaded and unloaded.  Must be able to secure all loads.  Must be able to plan routes according to state and federal laws pertaining to overweight and over-width loads.  Work will be performed per the dispatcher's instruc­tion, free from direct supervision except for more complicated jobs.  The driver is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.

 

When working with coworkers employed as Material Spotters/Dump Men, constant eye contact will be maintained with this person when backing, communicating using hand signals, or other movements.  If whereabouts of Material Spotters/Dump Men is unknown, vehicle is to be stopped until this person is located.

 

II.            KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  • Thorough operational knowledge and ability to operate trans­ports and related equipment to be loaded and unloaded.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to keep time and material records.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Must have maneuvering and backing skills.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Regulations; knowledge of proper warning signs.

  • May assist other personnel when there is no need for transport drivers.
  • Travel will vary from interstate highway to rural dirt roads.
  • Driver must be able to communicate effectively on the radio system.
  • The driver must possess a valid state commercial driver's license (CDL).
