WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Radiation is a common treatment option for those with cancer. In collaboration with the Radiation Oncologist, our Dosimetrists are responsible for the accurate execution of treatment plans to our patients. This is a job that requires someone who is welcoming with patients, can build a relationship with them, and care for them with a foundation based in strong faith and training. WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for day-to-day activities of the Radiation Therapy Department operations. 
  • Direct the work assignments of the technologists and makes necessary adjustments in personnel and working hours to maintain efficient operations.  Advise, direct and evaluate technologists in the proper performance of their work assignments.  May assist with interviews and selection of new employees. 
  • Assist the Department Director in maintaining and updating departmental policies and procedures as required to assure compliance with federal, state and regulatory standards related to Radiation Therapy. 
  • Determine patient parameters required for radiation dose calculation in order to plan for accurate delivery of radiation. 
  • Work in collaboration with physicist and/or physician to develop treatment parameters, dosages and techniques and ensure all equipment remains in safe and usable condition. 
  • Prepare treatment records with detailed treatment information in a timely manner in order to assist Radiation Therapy Technologists in provision of accurate treatment protocols. 
  • Monitor patient during treatment, recognizes signs and symptoms of impending complications and informs RN or physician of changes to facilitate prompt interventions.
  • Ensure completion of weekly chart review in order to verify accuracy of radiation dosage.
  • Assist in the pre-surgical and surgical aspects of prostate brachytherapy as directed by physician.
  • Explain procedure to patient and reinforces instructions from the physician and RN regarding skin and mouth care, diet, etc.

  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span.
