The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

JOB SUMMARY:

As an electro-optic engineer with Corning, you will work to develop multi-spectral and hyper-spectral sensors for both commercial and defense applications. It is critical these systems are designed to perform reliably in harsh environments. You will develope the initial system architecture followed by designing the support electronics, communication links, position sensing, motor control, camera communication, and imaging software.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • We require a BS in Engineering (systems, optics, electrical, physics)
  • We are looking for 10+ years in electro-optic related systems development, and would highly prefer someone with defense systems experience.
  • You will be responsible for the design of visible to IR sensors, spectrometers, laser systems and precision mechanism/motion control design
  • Good hands-on product development skills and competence with product development tools in engineering (e.g., Code V, Zemax, OrCad, SolidWorks, etc.), project management (MS/Project) and lab (e.g., interferometer)
  • Are you proficient in testing and debugging electro-optics systems?
