Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Master Data Architect for our Information Technology group located in Wilmington, MA

The Master Data Architect will have an end to end vision of CRL master data flow. This is a critical role in ensuring that our core operational data domains across applications are uniformly and efficiently defined with rules and processes developed and implemented to provide the foundation for master data quality. They will collaborate with the business to define data governance processes and workflow.

Accountabilities
• Develop rules, definitions, and processes for all CRL Master Data
• Maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities with all CRL data technologies
• Master the knowledge, skills, and abilities for all CRL Master Data Management (MDM) technologies
• Implement and use MDM tools that support rules, definitions and processes
• Integrate rules, definitions, and processes with all MDM services
• Plan MDM architecture activities in all relevant project plans and quality assuring implementation, operating as a key liaison to the Data & Analytics organization
• Work with the MDM team and being an effective team member
• Implement the process of ongoing improvement for master data
• Adhere to CRL Enterprise Architecture Principles


Activities
• Meet with the MDM manager to discuss MDM strategies
• Gather feedback from the MDM team about the performance of the MDM rules, definitions, and processes
• Evaluate MDM methods, technologies, and industry direction. Provide analysis and feedback / recommendations to the MDM leadership team on how these trends may impact Charles River.
• Meet with CRL IT Architecture Group to discuss MDM in the context of Enterprise Architecture
• Understand the business strategies and their impact on MDM rules, definitions, and processes
• Drive MDM Roadmap and improvement strategies
• Contribute to development of a data quality program across including development of corporate metrics, automation of data quality processing and driving business collaboration
• Contribute to a data literacy program at Charles River that strives to bring education and awareness about importance of data as a corporate asset

The following are minimum requirements related to the Master Data Architect position.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A/B.S.) or equivalent required in computer sciences. MBA or other graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience:  Minimum of 6 years of IT solutions/application experience required. Life sciences industry experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in a technologically challenging environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure:  Certifications that demonstrate technical ability desirable.
  • Other:  Must have in-depth knowledge of current IT technologies and state-of-the-art practices, effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills including influencing & aligning. Able to provide solutions to complex and difficult technical problems.
