Procurement Specialist

Procurement Specialist-TWMA-UKDY-TP-031618b

Description

We go the extra mile to make sure we can move millions of people safely and reliably, everywhere around the world, every single day. Join us at Bombardier Transportation, and you’ll be part of an international team, sharing knowledge and experience across countries and cultures to push technological possibilities. In the UK, Derby is a global hub for Bombardier Transportation. As the home of the hugely successful BOMBARDIER AVENTRA train, it is a lead engineering and production site and has been responsible for engineering design for some of the world’s most exciting trains. It is here that you will help us to connect communities, cities and businesses, enabling them to get wherever they need to be. If you’re motivated to make your own progress, you can move your career in any direction.

The opportunity

As a Procurement Specialist you’ll work on a truly global scale. With a full order book of projects ranging from £100 million to £1 billion spends, you can look forward to exciting challenges. Within your area of responsibility, you will make sure your area of spend delivers the best possible results and value. Right now, we have opportunities in two specialist areas. Commodity Buyers select suppliers and drive the full scope of procurement activity along the supply chain. Project Buyers sit within project teams, championing good procurement practice and managing suppliers, costs and changes. Both are varied roles with wide-ranging responsibilities - from driving cost reduction and designing actions to mitigate risks, through to developing commodity strategy, building market knowledge and getting involved in all kinds of negotiations. Naturally, managing supplier performance and working closely with colleagues is an essential aspect of either role.

Qualifications

To be equal to the challenge you’ll need relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the manufacturing industry. A strong background in purchasing and supply chain is essential, and MCIPS qualification is preferred. You will demonstrate the ability to drive improvements to supplier performance, establish a robust commodity strategy, and successfully reduce costs. The ability to understand engineering drawings will also be key to your success. If you’re a skilled analyst and negotiator who thrives on solving problems in a results driven environment, you’ll relish this opportunity. In return for your drive and determination, you can look forward to excellent scope for training, development and progression.
