    DUTIES: As a Contract Specialist, you will be responsible for the following duties:
    • Serve as a contract specialist in DLA Disposition Services
    • Development, coordination, and implementation of DLA Disposition Services wide contracts
    • Participate in and review procurement actions such as prime vendor type contract requirements
    • Encompass all aspects of DoD contract management as well as those inherent to contract administration

    Qualifications

    Qualifications: To qualify for a Contract Specialist, your qualifications must include:

    A. DAWIA EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS, Public Law 106-398, Section 808: A.) A baccalaureate degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees AND B.) at least 24 semester hours (or equivalent) of study from an accredited institution of higher education in any of the following disciplines; accounting, business finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, and organization and management; OR C.) a civilian employee in DOD or member of the Armed Forces, who occupied a GS-1102 position or contracting officer position with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold on or before September 30th, 2000 is excluded from the requirements of A. AND B. above, but must meet the requirements identified in Public Law 101-510, section 1724: A OR B above.

    B. Specialized Experience: In addition to the basic education requirement, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include:
    • Applying contract, procurement and acquisition laws, regulations, negotiations, and closeout and termination procedures
    • Conducting acquisition planning, including price/cost analysis and source selection techniques
    • Performing contract administration and management pertaining to document automation programs, services, equipment, software and technical terminology sufficient to properly perform contract administration and management
    • Developing, coordinating and implementing contracts; Pre & Post Award


    C. Education: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience.
