Your Responsibilities

As a Writer, Small Ag Advertising for John Deere, you will work with a design partner to plan and develop marketing communications and advertising campaigns for Small Ag products (Compact Utility Tractors, Utility Tractors, Implements) and the parts, attachments and services that go with them.  In addition, you will:

  • Develop/author campaign and project briefs, and manage completion and fulfillment of said campaigns and projects
  • Plan and write advertising content for wide range of print, broadcast, and digital media
  • Assist the Creative Group Manager in the development of media plans; personally monitor media ad linking on an ongoing basis
  • Provide account service, collaborating with Tactical Marketing and other stakeholders to develop advertising and communication plans in support of corporate sales goals associated with assigned product lines
  • Personally handle a multitude of daily requests, questions, suggestions, etc. from applicable internal and external stakeholders and supportive vendors, determining best plan of action regarding fulfillment activities
  • Work with creative team partner to plan and supervise still photography and video programs at various indoor and outdoor locations
  • Ensure work product meets approved company standards and guidelines, and modifies work product as needed, maximizing efficiencies and minimizing costs

What Skills You Need

  • 4 or more years of experience developing integrated advertising campaigns across traditional and digital media platforms, preferably with an advertising agency, marketing firm or corporate marketing communications department serving diverse B2B and consumer accounts
  • 4 or more years of copywriting experience in digital, broadcast, and print media
  • 2 or more years of experience developing social media campaigns
  • 2 or more years of experience developing direct campaigns, both print and digital
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong account service and project management skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 15%
  • Experience planning and supervising still and video photo programs
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in print/electronic publishing and administrative software (Creative Cloud InDesign, Microsoft Office Outlook)

  • Ability to edit own copy for accuracy in grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.
  • Experience managing budgets associated with individual projects
  • Experience promoting durable goods
  • Experience developing traditional and digital point-of-sale and point-of-purchase materials
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Advertising, Journalism or Marketing Communications
