Summary of Responsibilities
Pembina’s Technical Services Unit (TSU) manages on behalf of the company’s Business Units (BU’s) a comprehensive integrity management program, which includes Asset Integrity, Technical Services, Safety, Security and Emergency Response, Commissioning, and the Project Management Office (PMO).  As a key contributing member of the team, the Manager, Rotating Equipment will be Pembina’s technical authority for rotating equipment, lead in development, sharing and implementation of best practices, with the goal of driving reliability improvements, managing business risk and ensuring cost effective operation.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Work with the business unit operating, maintenance project and commissioning teams to ensure competent personnel are in place to manage project specific and/or day to day rotating equipment needs;
• Provide leadership in developing a “Rotating Equipment Center of Excellence” to facilitate networking, continuous improvement, and share learnings and best practices between Pembina’s maintenance, operations and engineering teams;
• Guide the business units in maturing their rotating equipment management practices (migration from reactive/corrective to preventative and predictive maintenance practices, equipment criticality assessments, spare parts analyses, long range strategic management plans);
• Provide technical support for major rotating equipment maintenance strategies, failure investigation, performance problems (e.g. vibration challenges), design challenges, and project planning (e.g. support selection, inspection, commissioning and start-up of major rotating equipment);
• Act as subject matter expert for rotating equipment failure/incident investigation (RCFA);
• Work with the PMM (Pembina Maintenance Management) team to ensure maintenance strategies and KPIs and benchmarks are established to monitor and improve rotating equipment performance corporate wide;
• Identify and evaluate new technologies by staying current with industry groups to improve asset performance, reliability and to meet current and future business requirements;
• Ensure rotating equipment engineering specifications and commissioning practices are fit for purpose, leverage learnings and achieve the optimum life cycle asset management costs;
• Approve rotating equipment specification deviations, and support MOC reviews of rotating equipment as required;
• Develop a Rotating Equipment Integrity Management Program to establish a corporate standard and assurance for effective life cycle asset management.
• A minimum of ten years of experience in reliability and asset management, with at least 5 years of direct experience related to troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of rotating equipment in the oil and gas or petrochemical industries;
• Mechanical or other related Engineering Degree registered with APEGA would be preferred, however an individual with a related Engineering Technology Diploma registered with ASET may be considered;
• Advanced knowledge of rotating equipment design, application and predictive inspection technologies (lubricant analysis, vibration analysis, thermography) and root cause failure analysis;
• Knowledgeable in design codes and standards for rotating equipment;
• Experience with the SAP Plant Maintenance module and Microsoft Power BI is desired;
• Exceptional team building and communication skills;
• Customer service focused and assertive to ensure business requirements are met;
• Previous experience supervising staff would be an asset;
• Demonstrates a can-do attitude to accommodate the variable duties required for the position;
• Able to travel to the field, throughout North America and internationally, as required.
