The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle and Powertrain Operations facility in Kansas City, MO employees produce the Sportster®, Dyna®, V-Rod® and Street families of motorcycles from fabrication and finishing through final assembly including the liquid-cooled RevolutionX powertrains for the Street motorcycles.

We are looking for a Product Quality Lead. This position will be responsible for leading the delivery of quality process improvements as well as solutions to problems resulting in the reduction of Customer Quality Issues or Risks at a pace in line with corporate metrics and objectives.

This will be accomplished through the use of proven quality, statistical, reliability and problem-solving tools, principles, and methods. The Product Quality Lead will lead the organization in the successful achievement of the Quality Strategy through the ability to remove barriers to success, collaborate with key stakeholders, and communicate Quality to all levels of the organization.

The position will be responsible for development and leadership of project oversight, risk mitigation and CIS knowledge to successfully drive projects to completion. The individual will utilize influential leadership to mentor and support the development of others by transferring skill, knowledge, and experience to increase their capabilities.

In addition, the person will work closely with product development, supplier quality, local quality department, and manufacturing to proactively prevent and solve quality issues. Lastly, the person will ensure suppliers are manufacturing products according to product specifications and determine root causes and diminish occurrences in the manufacturing processes.

Key Deliverables:

• Leadership of problem solving and issue resolution as it relates to quality metrics in manufacturing to achieve Plant Quality metrics (FPY, CPH, NCM, PPM, FVA).

• 1st line of defense for quality issue containment; verify parts to print, processes in control.

• Champions of built-in-quality and supplier quality playbook

• Time to containment and time to corrective action

• Work closely with supplier quality, operations front line leaders, and on-site quality department to align high quality manufacturing and supplier processes

• Coach and Mentor Design, Manufacturing, Production and Supplier Resources to achieve, sustain and improve results and performance of quality objectives.

• Ability to influence key stakeholders with fact based recommendations to effectively implement process improvements.

• Drive for results in a relentless pursuit of Voice of Customer (VOC) Quality in the midst of other objectives.

Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or Business related field preferred.

Experience Required
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. In addition they will have demonstrated the following:

• Operations and Manufacturing experience

• Quality Systems knowledge and experience

• Knowledge of H-D CIS operating system

• Root Cause & Problem Solving abilities

• Ability to effectively define and scope a problem.
