Position Overview

This position is responsible to analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems to implement and improve computer systems. Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. This work is conducted under direction of the manager of Informational Services by performing the following duties.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Install, test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and hardware
  • Work with staff and users for proper use of computer systems and programs
  • Expand or modify system to serve new purposes or improve work flow.
  • Provide staff and users with assistance solving computer related problems, such as malfunctions and program issues
  • Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards
  • Review and analyze computer printouts and performance indicators to locate code problems, and correct coding errors
  • Consult with supervisor to ensure agreement on system principles
  • Confer with staff regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs a computer program is to address
  • Read manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to best meet staff and user requirements
  • Coordinate and link the computer systems within an organization to increase compatibility and so information can be shared
  • Determine computer software or hardware needed to best solve an issue
  • Assess the usefulness of pre-developed application packages and adapt them to a user environment
  • Recommend new equipment or software packages
  • Interview or survey workers, observe job performance or perform the job to determine business needs
  • The position will also assist in implementing new initiatives for the Dolomite Group divisions
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • Internship candidate – college student enrolled or recently graduated from a credited 4- year program.   
  • 1 year in IT related work, or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Be familiar with software programs and technical tools/instruments 


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Be able to interact with vendors, organizational employees, and different levels of management
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be willing to travel when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Be goal orientated and a self-starter
  • IT and computer technology experience and knowledge
  • Networking, TCP/IP, and data routing knowledge
  • Cleanliness & neatness of all equipment, tools, desks, & computers is a must at all times.
  • Be able to work independently, safely, have strong organization skills, and have a strong work ethic
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
  • Strict adherence to Dolomite policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
