    Responsibilities
    • You will possess apprehension/detention authority on a military installation and will be required to carry a firearm in the performance of duties.
    • You will perform anti terrorism/force protection duties to deter, detect, and/or deny unauthorized access.
    • You will perform a wide variety of complex law enforcement duties generated by the surrounding area of the installation.
    • You will respond to and/or investigate complaints of minor to complex incidents, patrol installations by vehicle, bike, or foot.
    • You will perform law enforcement duties at fixed posts such as entry and exit gates throughout the installation.
    • You will write technical descriptive documents/reports and perform other law enforcement duties assigned.

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
    • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
    • Must meet uniform requirements; and must maintain program weight appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/policies.
    • Must successfully pass a sanctioned job compatibility/psychological examination.
    • Must successfully pass a sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation; and pass periodic re-tests as required.
    • As first responders to chemical/biological attacks, must be able to train and wear personal protective equipment to include mask, suit, boots, and gloves.
    • Must meet medical standards for the Police Officers in DOD 6055.05M and Navy Marine Corps Public Health Center Technical Manual (NMCPHC-TM) OM 6260.
    • This position is subject to work other than normal duty hours and shirt work which include nights, weekends, overtime, and/or holidays to meet mission requirements.
    • This position is subject to 24-hour recall. Will maintain a recall notification number and is required to respond per installation policy/Standard Operating Procedures.

    Qualifications
    Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that provided a basic knowledge of laws and regulations; law enforcement procedures and operations in performing routine, recurring kinds of fixed post assignments, regulating access to buildings, governing rights of individuals, conducting security perimeter patrol.

    Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.

    You may also qualify based on education OR combination of education and experience, in lieu of the one year specialized experience listed above, through ONE of the following:

    SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Successfully completed a 4 year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or comparable degree program related to the work of the position.

    COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to 1 year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal to 100 percent.

    This position has promotion potential to the GS-07 grade level. If selected below the full performance level, incumbent may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.

    May be required to respond to off base circumstances as directed by the installation commander, in accordance with United States Marine Corps (USMC) and Department of Defense (DoD) policy.

    Must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable or collapsible baton, and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer.

    If conducting law enforcement operations in navigable waters, must attend the Inland Boat Operator Training Program at Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) or a similar course.

    Must successfully complete a designated USMC Police Officers Course of Instruction and meet all certification to include weapons certifications, CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation), AED (Automated External Defibrillators), DOD, and Joint Training Regulations. Training may be conducted at a regional training facility.

    Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be at least 18 years of age.

    A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
