Name and description of the hiring department:

Ontera is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northern Telephone that specializes in the installation of Ontera services, including Home Phone, Internet and wireless Internet. Ontera operates in the residential and business sectors throughout Northeastern Ontario. With more than 50 employees, Ontera has maintained regional presence since its foundation in 1901 and continues to distinguish itself from the competition through highly skilled labour and an unwavering commitment to providing the best possible customer experience.


The Engineering Team is tasked with the responsibility of providing planning, infrastructure, and support necessary to deliver leading edge services to business and residential customers. As a Summer Student Engineering at Ontera, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of customer and service information. You will audit existing records for accuracy, and assist in the migration to new systems and procedures. Put your excellent customer service skills into action as you provide direct support and guidance and respond to inquiries related to our infrastructure and services.

Job Duties / Accountabilities:

  • Records auditing
  • Records conversions
  • Administrative support


Essential Qualifications / Competencies:

  • Must be available to work up to 40 hours per week plus overtime during summer months
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G2 or greater)
  • Safe Driving record with no suspensions of any kind on your driving abstract
  • Excellent computer skills – good knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to master new programs
  • English proficiency, both verbal and written
  • Currently enrolled in a Post-Secondary degree

  • Be Professional – knowledgeable about Bell products, services and systems so you can deliver fast, effective, and quality technical solutions
  • Be Responsible – protect company resources against loss, damage, and theft


Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
