  • One year (1) employment experience working in a professional office environment performing administrative or clerical functions.  
  • One year (1) employment experience communicating with internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing.
  • One year (1) employment experience preparing correspondence and documentation.
  • Computer proficiency including, Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to research policies and procedures and communicate findings.
  • Ability and desire to work in an extremely fast-paced, team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Successful completion of a Level II Background Screening and Drug Test.



  • Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Personnel experience working with the State of Florida Human Resource Information System (People First), preferably with timesheets, attendance and leave.
  • Experience creating and acting on Personnel Action Requests (E-PAR’s) in People First.
  • Experience assisting personnel with requests for the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Experience analyzing documentation and advising others on matters involving personnel.  
  • Knowledge of and ability to research the State of Florida Personnel Rules (Florida Administrative Code 60L-29 – 40) and Florida Statutes.



    This position provides personnel support within the Clyde Lassen State Veterans’ Nursing Home and communicates/coordinates specific personnel actions with the Human Resource Office in Largo. The incumbent will perform the following duties:

    Interpret and provide guidance on personnel rules, policies, procedures and standards to assist supervisors, applicants and staff in varied personnel matters. Audit timesheets, ensuring supervisory approvals prior to deadline, and assist supervisors and staff with time entry issues.

    Prepare and audit all personnel administrative documentation, such as review and performance planning; performance standards; position descriptions; disciplinary actions; recruitment; hiring; termination and retirement actions; requests to advertise positions; requests for promotions and transfers; matters relating to health and life insurance; direct deposit; deferred compensation. Assist and advise supervisors in the preparation of documentation relating to personnel actions.

    Prepare job postings in People First. Assist applicants. Screen employment applications for qualifications.

    Coordinate license checks, drug testing, Level 2 background checks with top candidates.

    Conduct new employee orientations: explain agency's policies and procedures and employee benefits. Ensure that all New Hire paperwork is accurately completed and forwarded to the Human Resource Office. Ensure that new hire data is promptly entered into the People First system.

    Process Personnel Action Requests (PARs) for new hires, separations, suspensions, promotions, name changes, FMLA actions, etc. in the People First system.

    Maintain duplicate personnel and medical files to comply with state personnel rules, VA regulations and Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) requirements.

    Maintain and update lists, charts, spreadsheets in a timely manner.

    Process FMLA requests.

    Assist with Workers’ Compensation Notice of Injury forms for job-related injuries. Prepare and submit injury reports. Maintain OSHA log for facility.

    Write and submit timely reports to Nursing Home Administrator, Human Resources, and Risk Manager.  Monthly turnover reports, monthly disciplinary actions, and monthly HR reports are examples. Attend weekly Department Head meetings.

    Perform other related duties as required.
