Part Time Field Data Collector - Los Angeles Job

Summary

TranSystems was recently awarded a significant contract by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) to assess and evaluate bus stop usability throughout Los Angeles County. The project involves conditions analysis of some 25,000 bus stops over an 18-month project period. Successful candidates will be engaged in a challenging and progressive work for a respected firm on the project for up to 18 months involving data collection. Candidates must be able and willing to work cooperatively with project team members in a high-energy environment that encourages self-initiative and must possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. This person should also possess a flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedules when required to meet deadlines and client needs .This is a part-time position and no sponsorship will be provided for this project.

NOTE: The position will involve field visits to Metro bus stops and transit facilities, some of which include industrial processing facilities and other heavy industrial activities, or sites that are under construction. Appropriate safety training and equipment will be provided for the work at project sites.

 

This position will be a maximum of 28 hours per week (Monday-Thursday).  The anticipated work hours are from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm.

 

Basic Qualifications:

• Proficiency working with Windows 7/10 environment.

• Ability to walk between bus locations

• Ability to frequently bend and stoop to take measurements

• Reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school or technical institution working toward, or recently graduated.

• Previous work experience/internship in transportation related environment and basic understanding of transportation development in the Los Angeles region

 

General Duties & Responsibilities

• Working with custom Collection software

• Field observation, surveying, and data collection

• Use of survey/data collection equipment

 

 

 

Travel requirements:  Up to 10%
