Job Summary
Assists with budget preparations for federal (eg: NIH, HRSA, etc.), as well as state, local and foundation budgets to ensure accuracy and compliance.  Provides financial support for reporting and other requirements necessary to manage Sponsored Programs within the Levine Cancer Institute Research Laboratories.  Supports post award functions for laboratory research and operations. 

Essential Functions



  • Provides administrative support for pre-award and post-award contract process. 
  • Read, analyze and interpret sponsored program related documentation i.e.: guidelines, contracts and funding documents.  
  • Act as liaison when needed to establish/maintain relationships with various teammates, principal investigator/program directors and sponsoring agencies. 
  • Identify and negotiate budgetary and contractual terms and conditions with minimal supervision. 
  • Participate in ongoing training and education activities to remain current on applicable guidelines and regulations. 
  • Responsible for providing assistance to Principal Investigators for the submission of grant and clinical trial applications.
  • Identifies and disseminate funding opportunities.
  • Maintains institutional information, investigator bio-sketches and shared resources.
  • Prepares monthly monitoring reports for department to include upcoming proposal and financial deadlines, report deadlines and other administrative renewals.
  • Maintain archives on submitted external proposals and contracts.
  • Responsible for time effort report completion and compliance.
  • Responsible for grant and contract close-out process, as well as determining the need for renewal or no-cost extension. 
  • Responds to sponsor’s request for additional information in a timely manner. 
  • Responsible for research purchases. 


Physical Requirements
Work requires frequent walking, standing and prolonged sitting. Work requires lifting up to 15 pounds.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Minimum 1 year of related experience. 4-year degree from accredited college or university. Knowledge of basic administrative concepts of sponsored program administration. The ideal applicant will have the following: Minimum one year of related experience with sponsored program either within an academic medical center or hospital; 3-5 years experience; 4 Year Degree in healthcare or business administration; Knowledge of administrative concepts of sponsored program administration; Knowledge of federal, state and foundation guidelines; Knowledge contract language related to research.
