Infrastructure Manager

The Infrastructure Manager's role is to plan, organize, and manage staff and overall operations to ensure the stable operation of the organization's IT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. The Infrastructure Manager will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. The Infrastructure Manager will also work closely with the IT Director and decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.


 Strategy & Planning

  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration, support and security initiatives.
  • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.
  • Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the executive team.
  • Establish best practices and policies for installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
  • Develop maintenance schedules for network and systems equipment.
  • Establish service level agreements with business units.

 Acquisition & Deployment

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of IT systems, including networks, data centers, servers, PCs, operating systems and initiatives.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the network infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services.

 Operational Management

  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, and so on.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
  • Test network and server performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent infrastructure activities.
  • Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.
  • Directs server administrators, network administrators, and support technicians, and where necessary, conduct performance reviews and corrective action.

 Position Requirements:

  •  Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science or related field and/or 7 years equivalent work experience.
  • Related certifications preferred but not required.
  • Experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
  • ITIL Foundations knowledge.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and implementing IT tools to support manufacturing operations.
  • Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and supporting IT infrastructure components.
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel/project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound and logical decisions.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Work Conditions:

  • On-call availability as required to support a 7x24 manufacturing operation.
  • Ability to travel as required including internationally.
