This is a highly responsible position working under minimal supervision providing professional dental services consisting of examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and care of conditions within the human oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures, including emergency, surgical, preventive, and restorative dental care to children (from first tooth through 18 years of age).


Performs diagnostic, preventive, restorative, endodontic, periodontic, prosthodontic, and surgical procedures within the scope of the dental practice act.


Develops treatment plans and maintains treatment records within Eaglesoft in accordance with the dental practice act.


Coordinates and directs the clinical portion of dental services, including all documentation required to assure compliance with Florida Department of Health Bureau of Dental Program expectations. 


Monitors quality of care to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. 


Works independently and makes decisions based on analysis of data and knowledge of dental practice. 


Maintains skills and completes on-going training to maintain active licensure in accordance with the dental practice act.


Work includes promotion and establishment of population-based dental preventive and educational programs and related dental public health activities. 


Supports the school-based sealant and educational programs. 


Promotes the development of county integrated, coordinated oral health system between the public and private sector.


Provides consultative and technical assistance to public and private entities, regarding oral health issues.


Licensure/registration/certification requirements:

  • Licensure as a Dentist in accordance with Chapter 466, Florida Statutes.
  • Current/valid U.S. Driver's License


Interviews will be offered to the most qualified applicants and may be held in a public forum or open meeting format. The interview panel may consist of Department of Health staff, County Health Department staff, representatives of community partner organizations and representative(s) of the respective Board of County Commissioners. No telephone interviews will be offered. All interviews are to be conducted face to face in Okaloosa County, Florida.  Any travel required to attend an interview will be the responsibility of the applicant.
