Junior Site Inspector - Transit

We are seeking recent graduates with good interpersonal skills, self-motivated and with a genuine interest in the transportation infrastructure sector.   You will work closely with experienced professionals who will provide guidance and mentoring.

Responsibilities:

  • Visit the locations of any ongoing work each day to monitor activities on site and collect information and photographs of the work;
  • Monitor the construction materials and workmanship for compliance with industry quality standards;
  • Prepare a report for each non-compliance observed;
  • Prepare daily and weekly quality and progress reports;
  • Produce a monthly report of findings, for use by the Site Manager in developing an overall monthly construction progress report;
  • Notify the Site Manager, by exception, of any issues or concerns as soon as they are identified.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing construction drawings and site work;
  • Demonstrated experience in construction quality control and reporting;
  • Experience in Design-Build or AFP delivered projects preferred;
  • Experience in structural or civil design an asset;
  • Sound judgment; effective organizational, analytical and problem solving skills; strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including technical report writing skills;
  • Ability to work with multi-discipline technical teams and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and computerized applications related to the work;
  • Up to 3 years of relevant experience preferred;
  • Eligible for Certified Engineering Technician (CET) or Engineer-in-training (EIT);
  • Valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's license and use of own vehicle for attending project sites, public meetings, etc.
