Job Overview

We are currently looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team in Bruce MS. The level of engineer hired will be based on experience.

 

As a Quality Engineer, you will:

 

Implement, monitor, and audit quality systems and procedures. Utilize statistical techniques to improve process/product quality and reliability. Coordinate and implement Quality Assurance (QA) activities with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production in new product introductions.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Independently designs, develops, and researches new processes or improvements to existing processes, tooling, and equipment.  Analyzes gaging requirements and cost, alternatives considered, and development and implementation of quality plans to meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
  • Analyzes Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).  Prepares and updates necessary documentation (first piece, inspection instructions, and process potential studies) as defined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for closure.
  • Utilizes statistical techniques, tolerances analysis, process potential studies, and other processes to assure new tooling and equipment meet specifications for corporate SOPs and plant requirements.  Develops and implements corrective action plans to bring non-conforming processes or tooling into compliance.
  • Serves as team member with plant operations and production personnel to troubleshoot operational issues on daily basis to determine root cause and support corrective actions.  Spends significant time on production floor; climbs above floor level and around or over equipment, walks on screen guards, or works in other awkward areas of manufacturing environment.
  • May assist with assembly and installation of tooling and equipment, using power and hand tools.  Lifts and moves parts weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Develops and initiates systems to direct and assist others with gathering data for analysis and reporting on plant operations.
  • Oversees/coordinates and maintains corrective action systems (for internal and external failures) so identification, prioritization, and correction of problems occur efficiently and effectively.  Conducts internal and external audits.
  • Participates in and executes quality deliverables to eliminate field problems from customers and production issues for New Product Introduction (NPI) budgets, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) design reviews, gaging, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), and reliability goals to project leader or plant staff as assigned.
  • Develops, maintains, and implements quality/reliability plans for major projects.  Monitors test progress to assure compliance to specified parameters.  Provides results to Quality managers or project leaders.
  • Attends supplier equipment and part qualification runs as required to identify and resolve quality problems.  This may involve travel, including overnight and international, to supplier sites.
  • Defines and coordinates quality systems consistent 
Do you have these required qualifications?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or related field.
  • If no degree, 2 years of engineering experience for every year of education not completed towards a degree.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds and climb/bend/balance in manufacturing environment.
  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to work in Bruce, MS without relocation assistance.
Do you have these preferred qualifications?
  • 3 or more years quality/engineering experience
  • Six Sigma
  • Experience using SAP
Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency using Excel.
  • Flexibility to travel on limited basis overnight away from corporate offices, including internationally.
