New Graduates

New registered nurse (RN) graduates benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation. The program provides socialization and support, enhances clinical judgment, and promotes professional development.

The Short Stay/Medical Observation unit is located and incorporated with the ED where you will be cross trained in emergency care. We have a 24-bed observation only unit and have a Hospitalist and NP designated to this unit where they will institute a rapid ADT: admission, discharge, and transfer of patient into and out of this unit. We provide Medical Surgical level of care to inpatient or observation admission status patients. We partner with the Emergency Department to cross train staff for ED experiences and potentially cross train for staff to float into all areas of the ED.

Shift: Various shift and statuses available!

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

Obtain your Medical Surgical Certification
Gain exposure to the emergency department
Critical thinking skills while maintaining patients from low to high acuity
Understanding how to balance nurse to patient ratios while providing excellent patient care

Qualifications

Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
