Aboutthe role and team
We have a newopportunity for an experienced Senior Associate to join our growingCommercial Dispute Resolution (CDR ) section inBrisbane, working with a highly regarded team of leading partnersand lawyers.
Our Brisbaneteam is part of our national and well-established CDR Section, withover 98 team members nationally working across all facets ofcommercial dispute resolution and litigation, including commercialand contractual disputes, banking and financial serviceslitigation, intellectual property, insolvency, public sector,property and construction disputes, regulatory investigations andtax disputes.
Keyresponsibilities
Thesuccessful candidate will be involved in a range of commerciallitigation matters, including:
- advisingon high level and complex commercial litigation matters, with aparticular focus on financial services, funds management andregulatory investigations;
- negotiation andalternative dispute resolution;
- draftingpleadings and court documents, preparation of evidence, andbriefing and instructing counsel;
- propertylitigation, including disputes concerning contracts,development agreements and resumption of land;
- assisting withinsolvency and bankruptcy matters, including acting andadvising insolvency practitioners, directors, financialinstitutions in various claims and actions arising undersecurity agreements, the Corporations Act or the BankruptcyAct; and
- assisting with othertypes of litigation matters, including planning and environmentand construction disputes.
This is afantastic senior commercial litigation role, with significantdevelopment and progression opportunities, and the opportunity towork with interesting clients on complex matters.
Skills andexperience
We are keento hear from candidates with the following skills andexperience:
- 5 - 8years of post-admission experience in Australia isessential;
- previousexperience in general commercial litigation / disputes, ideallyfrom a large or medium-sized law firm or a specialistlitigation practice;
- experience in financialservices and regulatory disputes will be highlyregarded;
- strongcommunication and drafting skills, with outstanding attentionto detail;
- theability to confidently run matters through dispute resolutionprocesses;
- experience and awillingness to supervise and mentor junior members of the team;and
- theability to handle busy workload with competingtimelines.
