*South London and Maudsley:*

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. We work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre. There are very few organisations in the world that have such wide-ranging capabilities working with mental illness. Our scope is unique because it is built on three major foundations: care and treatment, science and research, and training. SLaM employ around 5000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. Currently, provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

*What you’ll be responsible for*:

The post holder will work within the Croydon CAMHS Getting Help Team or the Getting More Help Team to provide assessment, treatment, care coordination and planning for children and/or young people with moderate to severe mental health and neuropsychiatric difficulties, under supervision of the team leader and relevant clinical supervisor.

1. To provide a specialist psychological service to children and/or young people and their families/carers in Croydon CAMHS including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.

2. To care co-ordinate and manage treatment delivered to each young person referred, including developing, reviewing and adapting interventions.

3. To undertake and co-ordinate CAMHS mental health and neurodevelopmental assessments assimilating and interpreting complex information from a variety of sources.

4. To communicate assessment and treatment information to young people their families and to other professionals.

5. To undertake proactive risk management and safety planning in conjunction with the multi disciplinary team.

6. To work as an autonomous professional within the relevant professional registering body guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor.

7. To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate.

8. To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.

9. To undertake service evaluation, audit and research.

10. The Getting More Help Team also holds responsibility for supporting transfers of young people out of Tier 4 inpatient settings, they liaise with National and Specialist Toer 4 Services and hold some cases that have additional complexities such as LAAC or YOS. The role within Getting More Help would suit an applicant with specific desire to work with this specific client group.

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.

*You’ll have the following qualification/experience*:

*Qualifications :* Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration (A) (clinical psychologists nearing the completion of their training are welcome to apply). OR Core professional training in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Systemic Psychotherapist or equivalent child mental health profession (A) Relevant professional registration with appropriate body. All applicants will require a professional training with professional registration with one of the following statutory bodies: the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC), General Social care council (GSCC), Health and Care Professional's Council (HCPC), Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) or The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) (A)

*Experience:* Experience of receiving clinical supervision across a range of client needs. (A/I) Experience of assessment, treatment and risk management of children, young people and families with a range of presenting problems of a complex nature (A/I) Experience working with children & young people with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties (A/I) Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities. This may have been gained through work, research, volunteering and / or lived experience (A/I) Experience of developing and carrying out research projects.
