What you'll be doingThe CFH Counselling Service is a secondary service providing targeted and specialised health care when needed to support the health, development and wellbeing of children/young people, build the confidence and skill of parents/carers and develop strong healthy family relationships.
CFH Counselling clinicians support the psychological wellbeing of individuals and families experiencing psychosocial issues.
CFH Counsellors work with:
Children and young people aged up to 18 years of age; and their
Parents/carers, and families; and
Individual adults
who are living, attending school or working within the geographical boundaries of WSLHD.
CFH Counsellors provide individual and family assessment and therapy to address behavioural, emotional and developmental concerns for children in the context of their family and community. A whole of family approach is used to enhance individual emotional wellbeing, and family functioning.
CFH Counsellors each contribute discipline specific knowledge and skills and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide evidence informed interventions. These include individual and family counselling, group work, parenting education and skills programs.

Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated clinical skills in working with children, adolescents, families/carers and individual adults to provide psychosocial assessment, family assessment, care plan formulation, intervention and counselling in relevant clinical settings.
Experience in and/or knowledge of systemic approaches to provide family focused therapies and parenting interventions.
Demonstrated knowledge of perinatal mental health, child development, infant attachment and application in child and family clinical settings.
Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed care and best practice when working with individuals and families with identified vulnerabilities.
Demonstrated experience in assessment and management of client risk issues related to mental health, self-harm, suicide, domestic and family violence and child protection concerns using a range of preventative and therapeutic strategies.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and work with families from differing socioeconomic and/or culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to achieve client outcomes and goals.
High level of written clinical documentation skills with demonstrated competency in using computer based applications including electronic health records.
Demonstrated excellent time management and organisation skills to provide timely and appropriate services and meet workload expectations. Must also hold a current driver’s license valid in Australia.
