Tri Pointe Homes is looking for an experienced individual to join our talented group as a Cost Accountant.

Position Highlights: This position will own the responsibility to perform all the accounting related to homebuilding project budgets. All accounting will be made in full coordination with the divisions’ finance department.

Position Responsibilities:

Coordinate with the divisions periodically to record unit statistics (i.e. Starts, Completions, Orders, Cancellations)
Setup jobs and communities as assigned in coordination with the divisions’ finance department
Participate in divisions’ budget meeting
Enter project budgets in E1
Coordinate the review of open commitments on closed homes with the divisions
General review of project costs for properly coding and classification and prepare any adjusting entries as needed
Write-off cancelled deals as needed
Allocate payroll costs to projects
Code expense reports from credit cards to proper account classification
Prepare commissions expense entry
Run the month end journal entries for job cost (i.e. Cost Allocations, Profit Recognition, Model Fixed Assets, Model Depreciation, WIP)
Review and maintain construction status of jobs
In coordination with the divisions’ finance department perform a profit margin review on closed homes for the current period
Prepare and distribute month end reports to divisions
Maintain internal control structure as it pertains to job costing
Assist in the audit process as assign
Support divisions in the business plan preparation as needed
Perform special projects as assign
Assist in various efforts to improve the efficiency surrounding the data collection and reporting by developing automated processes and applications

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
A minimum of 2 years of successful experience in a Cost Accountant position or other related field.
Public Accounting experience, minimum of two years, is preferred.
Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking ability.
Proficient Excel skills
Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX.
Knowledge of JD Edwards and Hyperion is a plus.
Knowledge of homebuilding experience is a plus.
Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.
Proven team player with the ability to guide and influence cross-functional teams
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: The expected base salary range for this position is between $76,000-90,000 per year, depending on experience and skillset. Base Salary is paid bi-weekly, every other Friday.
Bonus: This position is eligible for an annual performance-based cash bonus. Bonuses are earned, calculated and paid in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Company’s applicable incentive plan document.
