We are looking for a Qualified Level 2 or Level 3 Nursery Nurse and an Assistant Manager for a 45 place setting in Balham.

Salary:

Nursery Nurse - paying up to £26,000 per annum plus performance related pay. (depending on experience, salary is open for negotiation)
Assistant Manager - paying up to £30,000 per annum plus performance related pay. (depending on experience, salary is open for negotiation)

Hours:

Full Time, 40 hours a week.

The Nursery Nurse Role:

Building and maintaining excellent relationships with children and their families.
Liaise with parents and other staff members.
To ensure all children are happy and well cared for and their individual needs are being met.
Working to maintain Health & Safety and Safeguarding Practices within the setting.
Creating a fun, safe and warm environment where children can flourish and grow.
Innovating with activities and constantly challenging your children’s learning and development.

The Assistant Manager Role:

To contribute to the smooth day to day operation of the nursery and to be accountable to senior management for all aspects of the nursery’s provision.
To be able to take directions from the nursery manager.
To maintain systems that successfully monitor, review, develop and deliver high standards of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in the nursery, including those with additional educational needs.
To contribute, along with other members of senior management, to the review, development and implementation of all nursery policies, including in particular those on Inclusion and Equality, Health and Safety and Safeguarding.
To help supervise and operate systems and procedures that ensure the cleanliness, safety and maintenance of the nursery and the welfare of children and are carried out according to the nursery’s Health and Safety policies, risk assessments and cleaning schedules; to administer medicines, and treatments.
To have lead responsibility for the operation of the nursery’s quality assurance systems and the implementation of all recommendations from OFSTED inspections, local authority audits, Environmental Health and Food Safety inspections etc.
To help plan, develop and implement strategies for the nursery development, and to involve the nursery in local and national initiatives that improve the quality or range of services that the nursery is able to offer.
To actively promote the nursery’s partnership with parents, including a comprehensive key person system, detailed entry and development profiles on children, regular feedback and reporting, parents evenings, parental involvement in events, outings and celebrations and an effective complaints procedure.
To promote and protect the safety and welfare of children in the nursery’s care, to ensure the familiarity and effectiveness of all staff in implementing the nursery’s Safeguarding Policy, to be alert to any possible signs of children being harmed or abused and knowledgeable of ways to respond to these.
To maintain a suitably qualified staff team that meets the requirements of EYFS and OFSTED, comply with child/staff ratios at all times and effectively deploys staff across all ages of children and areas of the nursery and curriculum, indoors and outdoors.
To ensure that a sufficient range and quantity of good quality resources and equipment for all ages and areas of the curriculum are available, properly stored, presented and maintained and replaced and replenished as necessary.
To help maintain the nursery’s register and records of attendance and payments due/received.

Qualifications and Experience:

Full and Relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years or above. (Essential)
Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable)
First Aid Certificate (desirable)
Safeguarding (Level 1, 2 & £3 Certificates) (desirable)
A positive and dedicated attitude and a real passion for childcare and development.
Being able to provide and sustain a caring environment.
The ability to multi-task and establish rapport with staff, families, and external agencies.
Commitment to diversity and equal opportunities.
Good planning and organisational skills.
A willingness to learn.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
The Assistant Manager - needs the experience and confidence to assist the manager to make sound day-to-day decisions within a broader view of the nursery’s strategic development whilst remaining sensitive to the needs of children and families.
