Summary:

The Child Mind Institute (CMI) is recruiting a Technical Support and Documentation Specialist within the C-PAC division of the Center for Data Analytics, Innovation, and Rigor (DAIR). The primary responsibility of this position is to provide user support and draft technical documentation for the Configurable Pipeline for the Analysis of Connectomes (C-PAC) software platform. Successful candidates must therefore have sufficient technical communication and writing skills to independently provide support and documentation to both external users and internal collaborators. As experience grows, the candidate will also be expected to learn how to use the software platform and perform testing-driven neuroimaging analyses with limited supervision.

Reporting to the Lead Research Engineer in the C-PAC team, this is an exempt, full-time position located in our NYC headquarters.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide user support to both external users and internal collaborators for the C-PAC software platform, a neuroimaging analysis software platform implemented mainly in Python.
  • Communicate with users and collaborators within the field to draft new and modified user cases, user stories, and other specifications for new and improved features.
  • Draft user documentation and technical guides regarding the usage and development of the C-PAC software platform with guidance from the CNL software engineers.
  • Uphold and encourage an open and accessible writing culture within the team for fluid communication and progress updates.
  • Help maintain the C-PAC software platform's user guide website and online presence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related scientific or technical fields.
  • Familiarity with UNIX-based systems and distributed version-control systems such as Git/GitHub.
  • Ability to work effectively in a very collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning and grow in skills related to the computational neuroimaging field.
  • 0-2 years experience in a public-facing technical support role is preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated track record of strong technical writing and communication skills is preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with scientific computing and its terminology is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of fMRI neuroimaging, or cognitive and/or clinical neuroscience is a plus, but not required.
