Material Handler (Swing Shift) - $18.75/hr. plus shift differential*

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Material Handler to be based out of Molalla, Oregon, reporting to the Plant Manager. Sorters work to ensure quality control by hand sorting recyclable plastic by color and type. Sorters are responsible to ensure unacceptable materials are removed from the recycling line, so the plastic is acceptable for processing to sell to our customers. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and able to lift 50 pounds unassisted. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Our starting rate is $18.75 per hour with additional shift premium for working swing shift*. Atkore offers a competitive pay and benefits package.

What you'll do:

  • Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure Lock Out/Tag Out procedures are adhered to consistently.
  • Identify the different colors and types of recyclable plastics for sorting
  • Read and interpret production schedules
  • Conduct inspections on machined components to ensure they are working properly
  • Identify and troubleshoot quality issues
  • Establish priorities and organize daily work
  • Apply Continuous Improvement principles in daily work
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum educational requirement is high school diploma, or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner
  • Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
  • Safety Toe Shoes Required

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Complete any required training.
  • Have developed relationships within the department.
