This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.

As the Lunar Lander Cargo Element Integration and Test (I&T) Lead, you will be supporting our mission to return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. Lunar Permanence is Blue Origin's team dedicated to developing mission architectures such as our Lunar Lander program. Our Lunar Permanence team is developing our Lunar Pathfinder mission will demonstrate the lander's core capabilities - including the privately funded BE-7 landing engine, precision landing sensors, and advanced integrated power and propulsion architecture - on an early New Glenn flight.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians to integrate and test the Lunar Lander Cargo Element spacecraft
  • Guide and oversee activities associated with system-level I&T including Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE), Vehicle Test Bed (VTB), test articles, facilities, logistics, and transportation
  • Develop labor and non-labor budgets and staffing plans based on I&T scope of work
  • Develop an Integrated Master Schedule for the I&T scope of work including working with hardware providers and subsystem teams
  • Manage cost, schedule, and risk
  • Coordinate and collaborate with our NASA customer
  • Coordinate and collaborate with partner organizations within Blue Origin and our external partners
  • Provide regular status reports to the program including senior leadership and executives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • BS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or related technical discipline
  • Typically 8+ years of applicable experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with assembly and integration of space flight hardware
  • Experience with space vehicle component, subsystem, or integrated vehicle testing including environmental tests like shock, vibration, modal, acoustics, thermal vacuum, thermal balance, and electrical tests like functional and performance
  • Experience with space flight hardware qualification testing approaches and familiarity with specifications such as SMC-S-016
  • Experience in NASA program
  • Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems
  • Understands/experience with hazardous operations
  • Experience with Jira or other agile management software
