We are currently seeking a (Remote) Part-Time On-Call-Aquatics Examiner. This position location is in KS, MO or TN. Minimum availability requirements for this position is 3 consecutive days per week from May-August. No minimum availability requirements during for off-season delivery.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW


Aquatic Examiners are a key part of the American Red Cross Aquatic Examiner Service. They are front-line individuals who visit aquatic facilities across the country and provide direct services to these sites. Their feedback and reports assist management of aquatic facilities in developing procedures that recognize aquatic hazards and outline effective responses to aquatic emergencies.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

* Recording video of on-duty lifeguards both in an undercover capacity and while lifeguards demonstrate skills.
* Reviewing aquatic facility documentation related to lifeguard operations.
* Evaluating lifeguard performance in surveillance and emergency response skills on the job through on-site lifeguarding evaluations.
* Preparing reports and completing evaluation forms, as required.
* Identifying areas where aquatic facilities could improve lifeguarding operations and performance based on the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program.
* Conducting in-service training sessions and/or aquatic emergency action plan drills.
* Assisting the Aquatics Examiner Service Coordinators in conducting the annual lifeguarding operations assessment and report as needed.
* Mentoring new Aquatic Examiners in training.

The salary range for this position is $23.00 an hour Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the work is performed. The stated salary range in this posting is an average. The specific salary information will be shared at the time of phone screening based upon your location and qualifications.

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: High School or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
* Current certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor, American Red Cross
* Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, American Red Cross Lifeguard Management.
* If Aquatic Examiners will evaluate lifeguards at a waterfront or water park, they must have the basic-level certification in the appropriate course.
* 3 years' experience teaching American Red Cross, or equivalent, Lifeguarding courses: at least one within the past year.
* Minimum 3 years' experience as a lifeguard.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a lifeguard supervisory role.

Skills & Abilities:
* Ability to operate video equipment.
* Ability to effectively demonstrate, evaluate and remediate Lifeguarding skills to the American Red Cross standard.
* Knowledgeable about the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Program and Aquatic Examiner Service, local and state regulations regarding lifeguard operations.
* Have excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* Hold a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
* intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word and Outlook
* Requires ability to work non-standard work hours and weekends.
* Travel: Ability to travel regionally and nationally up to 100% of the time


Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Ability to travel 75%+. Able to work long days. Adaptable to teaching in multiple, variable environments.
