Huntsman is seeking a Maintenance & Engineering Manager supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in McIntosh, Alabama. This position will report to the Regional Asset Manager.

Job Scope

The Maintenance & Engineering Manager manages and directs the activities of personnel responsible for the Planning, Scheduling and Execution of site maintenance activities as well as Capex and Reliability Engineering management. Oversee the coordination between Maintenance and Operations for planned and scheduled maintenance work. This role is responsible for ensuring quality maintenance work is executed according to site and industry best practices and standards. The Maintenance & Engineering Manager is responsible for implementing all applicable maintenance standards that support inspecting, maintaining, monitoring, and improving the integrity and reliability of plant equipment. In addition, this role is ultimately responsible for the Mechanical Integrity program for the site and its compliance to regulatory and corporate standards.

As the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Manage the assets, teams, and processes to deliver World Class EH&S performance in line with the site and company expectations. Lead the team to create and maintain a safe work environment / mindset for employees, contractors, and visitors achieving the site's goal of zero safety and environmental incidents.
  • Support site and regional manager in establishing and managing the site's asset reliability program in an effort to achieve World Class reliability and maintenance effectiveness through the implementation of accepted industry best practices in the following areas:
    • Work Management Process - this includes the entire lifecycle of maintenance planned and scheduled work, kiting and staging, etc.
    • Execution of maintenance strategies including Preventive, Predictive and Condition based maintenance.
    • Contractor Management - this includes safety, procurement practices, core/non-core analysis, vendor performance, etc.
    • MRO Parts Management - review and manage the right sizing of spare parts inventory based on lead time, business impact, consumption, and frequency. Ensure spare parts needed for work/jobs are ordered in a timely manner, and the delivery lead times of spare parts is consistent with the priority of work needing to be performed.
    • Turnaround/Shutdown's - this includes scope definition and coordination between external resources and Purchasing for cost effective and timely execution of work. Manage and facilitate all shutdown schedules and meetings.

  • Measure and monitor Key Performance Indicators for their area (Backlog, Schedule Compliance, Mechanical Downtime, Plan/Actual, etc.).
  • Ensure a maintenance schedule (both weekly and daily) is maintained and updated. Coordinate with Maintenance Planners, Supply Chain, Operations and Engineering in order to maintain a prioritized maintenance schedule to increase efficiency of the Maintenance Department and ensure all PM and repair work is scheduled and completed in a timely manner. Sponsor weekly schedule meetings with site internal customers to align priority of task and level schedule workloads for maintenance resources.
  • Manage Maintenance Costs to ensure budget limits are met.
  • Provide input to site capital needs related to infrastructure, asset lifecycle, and material deficiencies, and manage site Capex budget.
  • Oversee MI program and esnure inspections are prioritize as necessary on the maintenance schedule and facilitate inspections as needed. Ensure that recommendations from inspections are managed in the Work Management Process to allow timely execution.
  • Promptly report any safety issues or delays that may arise to internal customers, Site and Regional Manager as needed.
  • Identify and drive improvement opportunities while ensuring consistency is maintained across the department. Utilize tools such as 5S, Lean, Visual Management to drive improvements.
  • Develop personnel capability with the right skill sets and competencies to become a high-performing team aligned to the departmental and site objectives.
  • Ensure data input for Maintenance Work Orders are complete.
  • Oversee the creation and review of Maintenance and Reliability Procedures and Guidelines.
  • Ensure site reliability engineer updates and maintains equipment information and PM plans.
  • Uphold housekeeping standards for both employees and contractors.

Other general responsibilities:

  • Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by Site and/or Regional Manager.
  • Provides support and mentoring to maintenance salaried professionals.
  • Participates in the Maintenance duty roster.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar environment and role. In addition, oversight of maintenance work management process experience preferred.

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have a high level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
  • Must understand SAP as it relates to maintenance Module.
  • Must have experience in a similar environment in a leadership role.
  • Must have a good understanding of Maintenance Planning, Scheduling and Execution best practices.
  • Must have good understanding of Maintenance Engineering Practices including Mechanical Integrity (PSM) concepts.
  • Familiar with establishing metrics and visual management to track and manage performance.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Certified Reliability Leader (CRL) desired.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification a plus.
