We are seeking an Associate Professor of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) who will contribute to the ongoing growth of information technology, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity at Torrens University.
The role is primarily responsible for preparing, delivering, facilitating, and assessing subjects and to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks. The incumbent is also expected to actively participate and contribute to curriculum development, course/subject coordination, reviews and continuous improvement, including validation and moderation activities.
An Associate Professor at Torrens is expected to make outstanding contributions to the University through teaching, research, scholarship, external engagement and academic leadership. An Associate Professor makes a significant contribution to the University, being the authority in their field, achieving national and/or international recognition.
As a senior academic and member of the Professoriate, an Associate Professor has the responsibility to provide disciplinary leadership through scholarship, curriculum development, academic development and the facilitation of excellent teaching and learning practise and development. They can be called upon to stimulate and provide strategic advice on critical issues and areas of decision making to lead, drive and support change for our institution’s future and the future of the communities we serve. They shall respect and advocate for their responsibilities as they work individually and collectively to develop a positive and constructive institutional professorial culture through engagement and exposure to awareness and reflection opportunities. They will also work to inculcate a culture of excellence in teaching, research and leadership. An Associate Professor is pivotal in contributing to the development of research and research output and in developing Early Career Researchers (ECR’s) and Mid-Career Researchers (MCR’s) to ensure and enable academic development. It is expected that the position must contribute to the institution through industry/professional engagement and mentoring or leading other Academic employees.
Additional responsibilities may include leading specialist academic projects that contribute more broadly to developing an academic culture focused on excellence. Where required, it is expected from the position to be actively involved in the institutional processes relating to academic administration, management and governance. At this stage, there is no leadership responsibility attached to the position (but there will likely be down the track).

Are you passionate about coastal processes, coastal hazards, data management and information security? We are looking for a motivated, experienced and professional person to lead the Data Management and Information Security team within the Queensland Government Hydraulics Laboratory (QGHL).
As a Principal Scientist, you will lead a small team of programmers and information technology specialists. You will play a vital role in the management of the storm tide and wave monitoring data collected by the Coastal Monitoring team. You will also implement the QGHL Information Security Management System and manage QGHL site works including the annual maintenance plan. The role also requires undertaking coastal process studies and preparing technical reports.
The Principal Scientist is responsible for leading and managing the Data Management and Information Security (DMIS) team and QGHL site works including the maintenance program. The position delivers high-level scientific data related to climate, coastal and disaster management and manages the intellectual property and human resources of DMIS in compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
You will provide high-level and strategic scientific advice on coastal processes, particularly storm tide and ocean waves to internal clients, senior management, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, and administering new and upgraded networks, software database applications, servers, and workstations Assessing and recommending improvements to network operations and integrated hardware, software, communications and operating systems Monitoring network performance and availability to identify and resolve any issues that may impact operations Installing and managing network security measures such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems to protect against cyber threats Analyzing and troubleshooting network and system issues to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner Collaborating effectively with others and to resolve issues and improve service delivery Creating and maintaining relevant documentation for network system management Qualification & Skills Required: Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role In-depth comprehension of network technologies including VLANs, VPNs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and Group Policy Strong communication, documentation and time management skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team Geelong Region, AUPosted 7 days ago
