Description

The House Nursing Supervisor provides 24-hour coordination of appropriate patient placement throughout the Hospital. The House Nursing Supervisor works closely with all departments, Medical Staff, and Administration to maximize the use of the hospitals’ resources to provide quality patient care. 


Qualifications:
   
Education:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing is preferred.

Minimum Experience:
A minimum of two (4) years experience acute care nursing practice that includes sufficient clinical and management experience to ensure competence.

Licensure/Life Safety:
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS must be current upon acceptance of position.
AHA ACLS certification or within 1 year of hire and maintain thereafter. 
AHA PALS certification or within 1 year of hire and maintain thereafter.

Skills:
Ability to read, write and speak the English language; Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; Inter- and intra-departmental coordination of patient care activities; Delegation skills required; Ability to multi-task essential; Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations essential; Strong detail orientation required; Computer skills required; Personal time management skills are required; Adept as a change agent; Utilizes wide range of theories in managing complex problems or problem resolution; Demonstrated expertise related to the following required: commitment to the advancement of nursing practice and the nursing profession, interpersonal communication skills related to knowledge of group/system dynamics, commitment to staff education and development; Compliance with the American Nurses' Association Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses is required; Demonstrates knowledge of and practices within parameters outlined in North Carolina Nurse Practice Act.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Excessive walking, standing, stooping, assisting with positioning of patients, lifting, and some sitting; frequent keyboarding.  This job poses the potential of occupational exposure to anesthetic gases, blood and body fluids, sharps, hospital grade cleaning solutions, flammable solutions; i.e. alcohol, latex, etc. in routine tasks performed.  Work schedule may vary/fluctuate dependent on unit needs. Travel to other system facilities may be necessary.

Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
2. Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares.
3. Ability to hear and distinguish heart, lung, and bowel sounds.
4. Ability to reach overhead.
5. Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during stressful situations.
6. Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media.
7. Ability to move an operate equipment and carry supplies.
8. Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
